Jose Ceja is the managing attorney of Ceja Law Firm. He has practiced law since 2007 and has devoted his career to the practice of criminal law. Mr. Ceja began his legal career as a felony drug prosecutor, where he prosecuted drug, gang, and violent offenses. In 2010 he was hired as an associate at one of Texas’ top criminal defense law firms where he worked for almost ten years before starting Ceja Law Firm in 2019. Mr. Ceja has first or second chaired almost 100 trials, including murders, drug cases, DWIs, and assaults. In his career as a defense attorney, he has regularly obtained dismissals, not guilty verdicts, and grand jury “no bills” in a wide variety of cases. Mr. Ceja is licensed to practice law in Texas and Arizona.

Mr. Ceja earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Ceja clerked for Hon. Bernardo Velasco (United States District Court – Southern District of Arizona), and the Legal Department of the Tucson, Arizona Police Department. Mr. Ceja completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism, with minors in Spanish and English. At the University of Arizona, he received the “Outstanding Senior Award” in Journalism.

Mr. Ceja has completed courses in DUI/DWI Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s (TCDLA) Psychodrama Program in Round Top, Texas, sponsored by the Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Project. Additionally, he has completed extensive continuing education training relating to the defense of intoxication offenses, including a weeklong course at the renowned Axion Lab in Chicago, and the defense of sex crimes. Mr. Ceja has also lectured on incorporating technology into the practice of law. Mr. Ceja is an active member of the TCDLA, the Harris County Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association, and the National College For DUI Defense.
